When creating a BOQ, quantities can be added either manually or by taking measurements from the file. after taking measurements in a file and adding them to a takeoff, the takeoff needs to be assigned to an Item from the cost database so that the quantity can be captured automatically in a BOQ.

To add a takeoff to any item, the item should first be added to the BOQ with the quantity tab left empty. There should be no quantity manually added to the BOQ item.

Now to add the quantities directly from the takeoff, follow the steps mentioned below -

Step-by-step guide

Step 1 - Make sure that the item is already added to the BOQ without any quantity.

Step 2 - Open the file in which the measurement is taken and assigned to a takeoff

Step 3 - Open the takeoff from the takeoff panel and scroll all the way down. Here you can even add additional measurements in case you missed them at first or if any changes were made.

Step 4 - Click on +Add items. The pop-up will only display the items added in the BOQ which has the same units as the takeoff. Even if the unit type is the same, make sure that the units are also the same.

For eg. - In a linear unit type, if the measurement is taken in mm and added to a takeoff, then the items will not be visible as the unit of the items is in “m” (meters). Make sure the measurement unit is also in 'Meters’.

Step 5 - Select the item from the pop-up and click ‘Add to list' and then on 'Done’.

The quantity will be automatically captured by the BOQ and will be reflected as well.

<aside> ℹ️ You can also add multiple items in one takeoff as well. Just select the items from the list and add it to a takeoff. This function will come in handy when the same measurement can be used for quantification of various items.
