Overview

The Review approval cycle is the end-to-end lifecycle a Review goes through in CUBE — from the moment it is initiated, as it moves level-by-level through reviewers, until it reaches a final state (approved, rejected, or revoked). Each level represents a stage where one or more designated reviewers must take action before the Review moves forward. Statuses, transitions, due dates, and notifications all run on top of this cycle to keep stakeholders aligned.

This article walks through how the cycle works, what actions are available at each stage, and the controls Review owners and reviewers can use to keep things moving.

Prerequisites

• Access to the Reviews module in the relevant project/Space
• A configured Review Flow exists (with levels, reviewers, transitions, and statuses)
• You are an initiator, reviewer, or watcher on the Review (depending on your role in the cycle)

Stages of the Review approval cycle

1. Initiation

The cycle begins when an initiator creates and starts a new Review:

• The initiator selects what to review (file(s), drawing(s), or item(s)), picks a Review Flow, and confirms participants at each level.
• On Initiate, the Review enters its first level and reviewers at that level are notified by in-app and email notifications.
• The initiator can also notify users who are not part of the Review Flow but are part of the Space, and add a custom message describing what feedback is needed.

2. Active level (waiting for action)

At any point during the cycle, the Review sits at one active level waiting for reviewers to act:

• The current level is visible at a glance in the Reviews data-grid and in the Review's Details panel.
• Each level has its own due date, calculated from the number of days configured for that level in the Review Flow. Due dates appear in the data-grid and Details panel so reviewers can see what's outstanding.
• Reviewers at the active level receive notifications and reminders to take action.
