Overview
A Space in CUBE is a secure, organized area inside a project where teams store, collaborate on, and share project information. Spaces help you separate work by discipline, vendor, or audience so each group sees only what they need.
Any Space consists of a hierarchical folder structure which can be used to organize files, documents, models, drawings and more.
- One project can have any number of Spaces.
- Only users with access to a Space can see or edit its contents. Access can be further controlled in a much more granular way, details of which are covered inManaging access of Files and Folders
- Files, folders, reviews, and more all happen within a Space, with optional, controlled sharing across Spaces when needed through transmittals.
Why Spaces exist
Projects involve many parties with different responsibilities and information sensitivities. Spaces let you:
- Maintain permission boundaries between teams like Architecture, Structure, MEP, Contractors, or Clients
- Keep deliverables tidy and traceable from first upload through review and final issue
- Share across groups without exposing the entire Space
Core concepts
- Space: A secured place inside a project. Think of it as a team’s workspace.
- Folders: Top‑level organization within a Space for drawings, models, documents, and correspondence.
- Files: Any supported document, drawing, model, or dataset your team uploads.
- Roles and Permissions: Define who can view, upload, review, comment, or manage settings.
Common use cases
- Discipline teams: Architecture, Structure, MEP each have a Space for design iterations and QA.
- Contractor collaboration: A separate Space for contractor RFIs and shop drawings.
